Does WiredContact Enterprise work with
ACT! versions 7, 8 or 9?
No,
WCE is not compatible with ACT! versions 7, 8 or 9. WCE steps away from
using ACT! as its backend.
WCE is "database
agnostic" and was built so that it doesn't matter which industry standard
database engine it uses. WCE is initially available with default implementations
of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Microsoft MSDE, MySQL and AS400.
Will WiredContact
for ACT! still be available?
Yes,
WiredContact for ACT! will continue to be sold and supported. Pricing is subject
to change. New features will not be released to WiredContact for ACT!.
(All new development is focused on WCE).
How do I get our ACT! database converted to a WCE database?
The WCE installation
includes an easy-to-use database import tool to fully convert ACT! databases
(versions 5 & 6) to MS SQL Server, MySQL, Access, MSDE or AS400. User profiles,
custom fields and all the tables - contacts, notes/histories, sales, groups,
attachments, etc. will be migrated over to WCE.
Will customizations from WiredContact
for ACT! show up in WCE?
Yes, all the customizations
from WC for ACT! will work seamlessly in Enterprise. WCE uses the same x3 template
set so you will have a smooth transition when upgrading to the new system. Therefore,
the same customization flexibility with WC for ACT! is seamlessly transferred
to WCE and all the custom HTML pages will be available.
Why should I consider upgrading to WCE
from WiredContact for ACT!?
Customers who have "outgrown"
their ACT! database and require additional scalability (more users) and database
flexibility should strongly consider upgrading to WCE. The open architecture
allows for new tables to be added and linked together, creating more sophisticated
options for managing data. In addition, the Record Security capabilities have
been greatly enhanced.
Since WCE can be transitioned across many database options, a company can cost-effectively
accommodate growth within their organization when necessary by selecting the
appropriate engine. In other words, they don't have to change their CRM solution
when their company has outgrown it - they simply change databases and add more
features that are enabled by the new database structure.
